Lemala Ngorongoro

Location: Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Northern Tanzania

No of rooms: 8 luxury tents & 1 family tent (accommodating up to 5 members of the family)

Style: Traditional luxury tented camp

Highlights: Privacy and exclusivity – easy access to Crater for excellent early game viewing

Dining: Eat together in the mess tent, bush breakfasts and private lunches

What’s the difference: it’s on the other side of the Crater to all the other camps, so you have a wonderfully scenic drive to get there, then the surrounding area is deserted so your game drives too are less crowded, and you’re already nearer to the Serengeti when you leave.

Lemala Ngorongoro is a small and intimate seasonal camp, set amongst an acacia forest on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Each tent is equipped with 24-hr solar lighting and warm duvets to keep the cold nights at bay. The mess tent is enticing and comfortable with grand sofas, and old chests and rugs. Lemala Ngorongoro also works closely with the Masai, and there is plenty of opportunity to get to know this charismatic tribe. Access into the Crater is only fifteen minutes giving Lemala an added advantage, as your wildlife viewing can start well before other guests arrive on the Ngorongoro Crater floor.

*** Lemala Ngorongoro is a luxury tented camp in the Ngorongoro Crater area which combines in a Northern Tanzania safari Lemala Ndutu & Mara (Serengeti), both Ngorongoro and Serengeti camps are in the ideal spot from which to see the wildebeest migration at certain times of the year ***

Ngorongoro Crater Lodge has some of the best views in the whole of Africa, and certainly by far the best views of the Ngorongoro Crater. Ngorongoro Crater Lodge’s unusual architecture creates a mystical feel, and the early morning mists surrounding the Crater rim certainly make one feel like a character in a fairy tale.
