Day 02     Masai Mara National Reserve

An early start to the day with piping hot coffee or tea brought to your tent. Your guide will take you on a morning game drive to explore the savannah and see what nature has to offer. This afternoon you may wish to visit a traditional Maasai Manyatta (village) or take another evening game drive before getting back to camp for dinner.

Day 03       Masai Mara National Reserve

Today, pack and set off on your walking safari through the conservancies. The pace will be easy and there will be frequent breaks and a stop for a picnic lunch en-route. Arrive at our fly camp site late afternoon where a welcome bush shower awaits you. Commence the evening with a cold gin and tonic and dinner under the stars – your musical soiree will include the mantra of the cicadas, the whooping of hyenas, and the roar of lions and the keening of jackals. After dinner, retire to your tent in much the same manner that Selous, Hemingway and Roosevelt would have done. Overnight Fly Camp.

Day 04    Masai Mara National Reserve

You are awoken at dawn with a hot drink before continuing the journey in the cool morning. Your guide will continue to uncover points of interest on the journey before arriving in camp in the afternoon for a well-deserved rest before the option of a short evening game drive. Overnight Kicheche Bush or Valley.

Day 05    Masai Mara National Reserve

Rise early with tea or coffee brought to your tent. Enjoy a morning game drive in the Conservancy. You will see differing terrain along with plenty of animal and bird species. Your afternoon game drive will be followed by sundowner drinks overlooking the plains, before returning to camp at dusk.

Day 06    Departure

After breakfast transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Nairobi (11.00-12.15).

Walking: The walking will not be strenuous and there will be many intervals at various points of interest. The distance covered daily will be approximately 10km, taking around 6 hours.

The Camps: KICHECHE VALLEY – Newest and most luxurious camp opened in July 2011 ensuring the optimum personal touch in camp. The Naibosho Conservancy is flourishing with a fantastic array of wildlife on offer and opens up a whole new area of the Mara to explore whilst game driving or walking.

KICHECHE BUSH CAMP – Located in a prime wildlife area, Olare Orok Conservancy, the camp is unfenced and the animals are free to roam through camp. It’s in a great place to see the wildebeest migration, and the camp itself gives you a real feeling of being in the wilderness, yet is very comfortable, with professional and genuinely friendly service.

FLY-CAMP – A lightweight fly-camp, staffed by a cook and a camp hand with small dome tents for 2 persons equipped with camp beds, bedrolls, chairs and a washstand. Basic bathroom facilities are available (long drop toilet and bush shower).

A lightweight mess shelter will be used in the event of rain.

What to take: We advise that you wear sturdy walking shoes or boots. Water, sun cream and a hat are other essential items and don’t forget your binoculars. If you like you can carry with you a small, light backpack.
