Your arrival marks the beginning of your adventure in Uganda. You will be met at the airport by our driver guide for a short transfer to your accommodation 2 Friends Beach Resort, Entebbe. Dinner on own arrangement. Overnight at 2 Friends Beach Resort.
Entebbe – Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast you will head westwards to Kibale Forest National Park. You will travel towards the picturesque Fort Portal area then on the Kibale where incredible crater lakes that beautifully punctuate the scenery. Afternoon arrival in Kibale allows you to relax ready for chimp trekking tomorrow. Overnight at Ndali Lodge.
Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale and Bigodi Swamp
The day for your Chimpanzee Trekking experience has arrived! The trek normally lasts for 2-4 hours and will also highlight the diversity of different animals and plant species within the forest. Chimpanzees are the main attraction, of which five groups have been partially habituated. The guided walk is along well marked tracks and a distance of 3km to 5km is covered. In the afternoon there is an optional Bigodi Swamp Walk activity depending on how long your Chimpanzee Trek lasted. Bigodi Swamp is home to 8 primate species and numerous bird species, the walk allows you to view other forest animals that live in Kibale Forest but not specifically in the Chimpanzees territory. The walk usually lasts 2 hours after which you will return to your Ndali Lodge for a well earned rest.
Kibale - Queen Elizabeth National Park
The first excursion in the morning, after breakfast will be a tour of the Crater Lakes that populate the region. One of the best ways to see the entire area is a visit to an amazing vantage point known as The Top of the World. The panoramic views from this ridge enables you to see the Snow Capped Ruwenzori Mountains on a clear day as well as the crater lakes dotted over the landscape. After lunch the safari will continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge.
Queen Elizabeth National Park – game drive and boat cruise
The following day will begin with a morning game drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park’s rich diverse ecosystem of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. Look out for buffaloes, lions, elephants and other wild life in their natural habitat. After lunch you can look forward to an amazing boat ride on the Kazinga Channel. This is a home of a variety of water birds, hippos, elephants, buffaloes and waterbucks can be sighted as they bathe and drink water at the water edge. Crocodiles are occasionally sighted along the channel banks. Dinner and overnight stay at Mweya Safari Lodge.
Queen Elizabeth - Bwindi Forest National Park
After breakfast you will transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park via southern Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park in search for the rare tree climbing lions. You will arrive at your destination in time for a relaxing evening. Dinner and then overnight at Mahogany Springs Lodge.
Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
After breakfast you will take a short drive to the park headquarters for a Gorilla Trekking briefing. You will then be ready for one of the highlights of this safari! There are eleven habituated gorilla groups spread across the four sectors of Bwindi. Each tourist group is made up of a maximum of ten people who go trekking to find one of the eleven gorilla groups. An advance group of trackers locates the gorillas ahead of time and communicates back to the tourist groups. The communication between the advance party and the tourist group continues until the gorillas stay in one place long enough for the tourists to catch up and spend time experiencing these wonderful primates in their natural habitat. Once contact is made with a gorilla group you are only allowed to observe them for one hour. This is to ensure that they don’t become too acclimatized to humans. Bwindi - Lake Bunyonyi
After breakfast, you will transfer to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale passing through the country’s famously known area as the Switzerland of Africa. Afternoon boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi for birding. Dinner and overnight at Heritage Lodge.
Lake Bunyonyi - Rwanda
After breakfast, drive to Katuna border and cross to Rwanda with lunch en route. Dinner and overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda
Leave the hotel after an early breakfast and drive to the tourism office station. Upon arrival on site, check in at RDB office for a short briefing and split into Gorilla tour groups. Then return to the car and drive to the foot of the volcano to begin the walking tour. Gorilla trekking will last between three and six hours, depending on how far the visited group is located or how quickly the gorillas are moving as they search of food. The guides leading the tour are from the national tourism board and in constant radio contact with trekkers. Have lunch at the Lodge and in the afternoon visit the Ibwachu ex-poachers village or visit the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla View lodge.
Enjoy during the early morning hours the peaceful atmosphere of the volcanoes. Return to Kigali. City tour of the Genocide Memorial site of Kigali. Lunch, dinner and overnight at Flame Tree Village Hotel.
Breakfast and depending on the time of your flight, you will transfer to Kigali Airport for your outbound flight back to your next destination. End of services
