Tour Itinerary

Day 01    Kampala – Lake Mburo National Park

Our driver guide will pick you up from hotel in Kampala and head South Westwards towards Lake Mburo National Park. The first stop will be at the Mpigi Drum Makers where you will watch the ceremonial drums being crafted using methods passed down through generations. Another stopover will be made at the equator before continuing on to Lake Mburo National Park.

An afternoon / early evening boat ride on Lake Mburo  will be organized which will give you an opportunity to see Uganda’s wildlife for the first time. There will be Hippos in the water, Buffaloes, Zebras and antelope on the water’s edge having a drink and a whole host of birds some of which can only be seen in Uganda.

Dinner and overnight at Mihingo Lodge.

Day 02   Lake Mburo – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

The first activity will be an early morning game drive in Lake Mburo National Park. The Park also offers nature walks and nature rides either on horseback or on a bicycle!

After breakfast the safari will continue towards Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. The drive will take you south west through the incredible scenery the Ugandan countryside, past local farms and homesteads as well as an every changing landscape as you get closer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Dinner and overnight stay at Mahogany Springs Resort.

Day 03      Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast you will take a short drive to the park headquarters for a Gorilla Trekking briefing. You will then be ready for one of the highlights of this safari!

There are eleven habituated gorilla groups spread across the four sectors of Bwindi. Each tourist group is made up of a maximum of ten people who go trekking to find one of the eleven gorilla groups. An advance group of trackers locates the gorillas ahead of time and communicates back to the tourist groups.

The communication between the advance party and the tourist group continues until the gorillas stay in one place long enough for the tourists to catch up and spend time experiencing these wonderful primates in their natural habitat. Once contact is made with a gorilla group you are only allowed to observe them for one hour. This is to ensure that they don’t become too acclimatized to humans.

Once the Gorilla Trek is over you will return to your lodge for a well earned rest.

Day 04    Bwindi Impenetrable – Queen Elizabeth National Park 

After a relaxing breakfast you will say goodbye to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and drive through the country side passing through traditional homesteads and farms of western Uganda heading towards Queen Elizabeth National Park in the southern sector famously known as Ishasha sector and common for its rare tree climbing lions, after a game drive in search of these incredible lions you will proceed to Park View Safari Lodge for dinner and then overnight.

Day 05     Kazinga Channel and Kasenyi Plains

The following day will begin with a morning game drive through Queen Elizabeth National Park’s rich diverse ecosystem of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. Look out for buffaloes, lions, elephants and other wildlife in their natural habitat.

After lunch you can look forward to an amazing boat ride on the Kazinga Channel. This is a home of a variety of water birds, hippos, elephants, buffaloes and waterbucks can be sighted as they bathe and drink water at the water edge. Crocodiles are occasionally sighted along the channel banks. Dinner and then overnight at Parkview Safari Lodge.

Day 06    Queen Elizabeth – Kibale Forest National Park 

After breakfast you will head towards Kibale Forest National Park

Travelling  towards picturesque the Fort Portal area you will know you are in the region when you begin to see magnificent tea estates. Then onto Kibale where incredible crater lakes that beautifully punctuate the landscape. Afternoon arrival in Kibale Forest allows you to relax ready for chimp trekking tomorrow. Dinner and then overnight at Kibale Forest Camp.

Day 07    Chimps Trekking in Kibale Forest

The day for your Chimpanzee Trekking experience has arrived! The trek normally lasts for 2-4 hours and will also highlight the diversity of different animals and plant species within the forest. Chimpanzees are the main attraction, of which five groups have been partially habituated. The guided walk is along well marked tracks and a distance of 3km to 5km is covered.

In the afternoon there is an optional Bigodi Swamp Walk activity depending on how long your Chimpanzee Trek lasted. Bigodi Swamp is home to 8 primate species and numerous bird species, the walk allows you to view other forest animals that live in Kibale Forest but not specifically in the Chimpanzees territory. The walk usually lasts 2 hours after which you will return to your Kibale Forest Camp for a well earned rest.

Day 08      Departure

Breakfast at the camp.

Depart for Kampala.

Drop off at your hotel.

End of services.
